Overview

Brutal Zip is a free high-performance compression and archiving tool for Windows. No license is required — Brutal Zip is completely free to download and use with no feature restrictions.

Installation

Run the Brutal Zip installer and follow the on-screen steps. The installer creates Start Menu shortcuts and optionally registers the Windows Explorer shell extension for right-click archive operations. Brutal Zip requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime for Windows.

Create/Extract Wizard

On launch, the wizard guides you through common tasks step by step: create a new archive from files and folders, or extract an existing archive. The wizard is also accessible from the CLI with BrutalZip.exe --wizard. For advanced users, the full UI provides direct access to all features without the wizard.
