Getting Started
System requirements, installation, first run and trial activation, and portable mode for Brutal Copy 2.
System Requirements
Brutal Copy 2 requires Windows 10 version 1607 or later (including Windows 11) and the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime for Windows. Download the Desktop Runtime from Microsoft's .NET download page — make sure you select the Desktop Runtime, not the base runtime.
Hardware requirements are minimal: any modern x64 processor, 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended for large parallel transfers), and around 80 MB of disk space for the application itself.
Installation
Run the installer and follow the on-screen steps. The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Brutal Copy 2. The installer registers the application, creates Start Menu shortcuts, and optionally registers the Windows Explorer shell extension.
To install silently (e.g. for enterprise deployment), run the installer with the /SILENT or /VERYSILENT flag from an elevated command prompt.
First Run & Trial
On first launch, Brutal Copy 2 starts a 30-day free trial with all features unlocked. The trial is server-enforced and cannot be reset by reinstalling or deleting local files.
When the trial expires, a one-time 30-day extension is available in exchange for brief feedback. After that, purchase a license at /brutalcopy/pricing to continue using the application.
Portable Mode
To run Brutal Copy 2 in portable mode, copy the application folder to a USB drive or any directory and create a config subfolder next to the executable. When a config folder is present, all settings are stored there instead of %LOCALAPPDATA%\BrutalCopy2, making the installation fully self-contained and portable.
