AI Pipeline
AI-powered file classification, smart routing, natural language rules, and 22 built-in templates for automated file organisation.
Overview
The AI Pipeline analyses files as they enter the copy queue and automatically classifies them by type, project, or custom categories you define. Classification results drive smart routing rules that move files to the correct destination folders without manual sorting. An API key is required (default model: Claude Sonnet, configurable in Settings > AI).
Rules & Actions
Define rules that map file classifications to actions. Each rule specifies a condition (file type, name pattern, metadata match, or AI classification label) and an action (move to folder, rename, tag, copy, or skip). Rules are evaluated top-to-bottom; the first matching rule wins.
Conditions & Patterns
Conditions support extension matching, wildcard and regex name patterns, size ranges, date ranges, attribute filters, and AI confidence thresholds. Combine multiple conditions with AND/OR logic for complex routing scenarios.
Natural Language
Describe file organisation rules in plain English — for example, “Organise photos by year and month” or “Move invoices to the Finance folder” — and the AI generates the corresponding processing rules automatically.
Templates
22 built-in templates cover common organisation tasks: photo organisation by date, document sorting by type, media library management, backup organisation, development project cleanup, and more. Apply a template with one click and customise it to fit your workflow.
Configuration
Configure the AI Pipeline in Settings > AI: set your API key, choose the AI model, adjust confidence thresholds, and define fallback behaviour for unrecognised files. The pipeline can also be triggered from the CLI with brutalcopy ai-pipeline.
